The phrase originates from FunnyJunk. On June 16th, , an image macro of a frowning gorilla with the overlaid text "That really rustled my jimmies" was posted by an anonymous user who has currently deactivated his account. The original photograph of the gorilla can be found in a Flickr post titled "nors"  uploaded by Frank Wouters on July 4th, The absurdity of the phrase "Rustled Jimmies" instantly led to a variety of responses to the OP, most notably the similar FunnyJunk image of the frowning gorilla.

Had a conversation with my partner the other day, and I was quite convinced that the phrase originated in the south well before the time of the internet. However the only references I can find of it on the internet refer to it's first use in on Funny Junk. Google Books has no hits from the twentieth century.
This means that she will probably be dating others at the same time as you. But I can't figure out whether or not we will ever get to that stage with the current situation and I'm scared of wasting my time waiting for things to get better. While a part of me is sad about not having a temple marriage and getting sealed together I have hope that this could change while we are on this earth and I have faith in an ever-loving Father in Heaven who is kind and just and will be able to provide a way for my family to live together in the eternities. I grew up believing that when, where, and by what authority I was married were equally important to whom I married. The divorce factor may allow some women to experience single-faith marriage at some point as some Mormon men marry multiple Mormon women over the course of their lifetimes, but the overall point stands: The only options for these women involve seeking a partner outside of the church, or a lifetime of celibacy. However her husband joined the church a few years after their marriage.
